M&S Dover St James Foodhall opened its doors to customers for the first time today (Wednesday, 16th May), bringing the very best of M&S’s quality food and drink to the community.
Store Manager, Chris Tallamy, was joined by the winner of M&S’s Community Hero competition, Tracy Whiteaker, to cut the ribbon and officially open the store at 10am.
Tracy was nominated for her outstanding fundraising efforts, hosting Dover’s first ever sponsored Full-Moon Walk in March this year, which raised over £52,000 for Breast Cancer Research. Alongside Tracy and Chris, the Foodhall’s 50-strong team gathered with customers to celebrate the opening.
Chris, who began his career with M&S four years ago, said: “My team and I are so excited to open our store today and we’re thrilled to be joined by our Community Hero, Tracy, who is an inspirational local fundraiser. We want to put the community at the heart of our store and Tracy’s story is really motivating for our own fundraising, which will see us support Parkinson’s UK as our Charity of the Year.”
Tracy added: “It’s been wonderful to join M&S today and open its new Foodhall in Dover. I’ve met so many members of the community through the Full-Moon Walk and it’s great to see so many people here today to celebrate with Chris and his team. M&S is a brilliant champion for local causes and it’s an honour to receive this recognition for our local fundraising efforts.”
M&S Dover St James Foodhall showcases over 6,000 of the very best of M&S’s quality food and drink products, from everyday essentials to delicious prepared meals and desserts. The store also features a 48-seat Café, ideal for enjoying a hot drink and a slice of cake with friends or family.
To coincide with the opening of M&S Dover St James, M&S closed its Biggin Street store yesterday, Tuesday 15th May. All colleagues at the closed store have moved to nearby stores, with the majority transferring to the new Foodhall.
Chris continued: “M&S already has strong local roots in Dover and we’ll continue to offer the very best service for our customers. M&S’s summer range has just launched and there are so many innovative products lining the shelves. From unmissable BBQ food to delicious desserts and drinks to enjoy in the sunshine, we can’t wait to introduce our customers to the latest M&S products.”
With the Royal Wedding just days away, there’s still time to pick up limited edition products in store to add a touch of extra sparkle to weekend celebrations:
- Royal Wedding Biscuit Tin, featuring all butter Scottish shortbread petticoat tails, perfect for sharing whilst watching the wedding
- The Proposal sandwich, inspired by Prince Harry’s proposal to Meghan whilst cooking a roast chicken, M&S has rebranded its popular Chicken sandwich with a romantic twist
- And finishing off the nuptials theme, M&S’s own Percy and Penny have tied the knot and customers can enjoy special edition packs featuring wedding attire and strawberry flavoured hearts
With three quarters of online M&S customers collecting in store, Dover locals can also use M&S’s popular Click & Collect service in store. This provides the option of having M&S.com Clothing and Home orders delivered to the store the next day, free of charge. In addition, customers can make the most of M&S’s members’ club, Sparks, which provides tailor-made offers and priority access to M&S seasonal previews and sales. Customers can pick up a new card in store or use their existing one to collect points whilst shopping at the Dover St James Foodhall.
The store is located at Unit A1, Block A, St James Centre, Dover, CT16 1QD and is open from 8am – 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sundays.
